Cummings Great Expectations adopts an Educare-inspired approach, which innovates in four core components of its family engagement approach:
- Families as nurturers and educators of their children
- Family well-being and development
- Family connections to peers, schools and community
- Families as advocates and leaders
In addition, Cummings Great Expectations:
- Build on the foundation of Head Start’s family engagement requirements
- Understand the child in the context of the family
- Develop mutually respectful, goal-oriented relationships with families
- Promote an understanding that family engagement is the work of all staff in our school
PARENT NETWORKS
Family engagement in Cummings Great Expectations is defined as partnering with families in collaborative and reciprocal ways to build mutually-respectful, goal-oriented relationships that support strong parent-child relationships, family well-being, and ongoing learning and development of both parents and children.
